It is a sad sad time in baking world.
I have no oven.
I am no longer living in Winnipeg, and have moved to a small town in Ontario. My teeny tiny apartment does not have a stove. So other then possibly successfully googling toaster oven cakes and goodies, my baking will be on hiatus (other then possibly borrowing someone's oven for a day when the withdrawal sets in).
So, I am saddended to say, that until further notice, unless I am back in Winnipeg for a short period of time and know with a lot of advance notice, I will be unable to take any orders. You can contact me with questions in regards to when I will be in Winnipeg. If you are in Dryden, you can contact me as well, and I can possibly make arrangements to borrow an oven to complete an order.
Once i get back up and running again, I will let you all know!
Thanks!

Happy Mother's Day!!
Today was an experiment of some kind. I was sent this amazing cake by my wicked good friend (and fellow food lover) Barb. She found it on an amazing blog called I am baker. It's an amazing site, and I urge you to head on over and check it out. Anyhoos, Barb sends me this cake late friday night and I didn't waste any time in making it!! There's an awesome tutorial on how to make it, and the roses, but it doesn't prepare you for how awesome it tastes!! It's absolutely yummy!!! Try it out!!!
Happy Mother's Day everyone!!!

Update!
Omigosh, it's been an awful long time since I updated this!! I seriously need to unbusy myself sometimes! Anyhoos, I have a few pics of things that I've done in the last little while so let's get started!
I made these cupcakes at Halloween (this is how far I'm behind!) to bring to work. They were chocolate fudge cupcakes, with chocolate ganache frosting. The spiderwebs are white chocolate and the spiders are m&m's (yep, black ones!) with milk chocolate legs. They were uber yummy!!
I had these yummy froggies for my birthday!! They were scrumptious! I had chocolate fudge and vanilla ones, either way with vanilla buttercream icing on top with various candies to make the faces. I had a lot of fun making these guys!
Ahh. Broccoli. Doesn't it look like it has it's rightful place on top of that cupcake? Ha! This was a special birthday cupcake I made for one of the girls at work. When I asked her what kind of cupcakes she wanted, she said broccoli. So, I set about doing just that! The cupcakes are my good ol chocolate fudge, with chocolate mousse inside, chocolate fudge buttercream on top with silver dragees. That broccoli is actually a Tootsie roll! You can melt them slightly so you can form them, and the ends are coloured buttercream with round sprinkles. For your sanity, do not try and find only green sprinkles around Christmas time. You will not find them. Take my word for it!! Those green ones make their appearance due to carefully being picked out of a giant bag of white, green and red sprinkles. It's definitely a hair puller, I tell ya.
Ok. I'll tell you a little secret. I am in love with Whoopie pies. That's right. Whoopie pies. People in Winnipeg, most often give you a funny look when you tell them you are making Whoopie pies. I honestly don't care. They are amazing. And yes, I used a box mix. I know!! I cheated!!! You can only get them in the US, and they make different ones for different holidays. Most often you can find them at Walmart, but I've found them at Target as well. Most grocery stores will carry them I'm sure. The concept is super simple. The cake bit is Devil's food cake and they provide you with awesome little packets of icing so you can fill up the in between, and then you drag the Whoopie pie around a bowl of sprinkles! Voila!! Yummy delicious goodness. If you ever find yourself in the baking aisle at a US Walmart, you MUST buy some. You won't regret it. I promise!!
Best. Brownies. Ever. I found this amazing recipe that combines brownies and cheesecake. OMG. To die for. Enough said. :)
I kind of went on a rampage for Valentine's day. I made just a few strawberry, and then continued with red velvet cupcakes. They all got chocolate mousse inside them, and chocolate fudge buttercream on top.
On a side note, I have really, REALLY gotten into crepes lately. They are snazztastic. Super easy to make, and super quick to make as well! You can roll them up with jam, or cottage cheese, drop some maple syrup, molasses, anything you want on them really! It's my go to snack at the moment. You can make them in small doses or make a whole bunch and save them in the fridge!
These fun cupcakes were Aryanna's birthday cupcakes. She picked out what she wanted (as she does every year), but she always picks stuff that takes forever! :) These time consuming kitties took a whole lot of my sanity. We had some of the chocolate fudge and vanilla varieties. All of them were covered in vanilla buttercream (some had chocolate fudge instead), and various candies to form the faces. The fishbones are white chocolate. They were a hit!
These, by far, are the yummiest of my cupcake adventures. They are Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes. They honest to goodness have peanut butter cups at the bottom of the cupcake. A moist chocolate cupcakes is on top of that, and all THAT is topped with peanut butter buttercream icing! They are pretty fantastic. They became a hit pretty quickly around my house!
Finally, that is the end of my updating. I promise, I will be baking more once things have calmed down around here. I have a few things up my sleeve, so watch for it!

It's been awhile!
Gah! I've been totally neglecting my blog(s). I realized I haven't put any pictures up here since January, and I've definatly made some stuff since then. So here goes!
Aryanna's bday was in April, and her cake request was "something with a dog & a doghouse on top". Alrighty then. Her cake was chocolate on the bottom tier, with chocolate fudge filling. The top tier was vanilla with vanilla buttercream filling. It was all covered in fondant. The doghouse was made of rice krispies, then again covered in fondant. She loved it!

This next cake I made for a bbq i had at my place. It's an angel food cake base, the middle had cool whip and sliced strawberries, covered in Cool Whip frosting. The top is covered in chocolate covered strawberries, and also raspberries and blueberries. It was delicious!

This cake was made as a goodbye kinda deal. One of the ladies who works at the jewelry store next to me left her job to pursue bigger and better things. So on her last day, this is what I brought her. The entire cake was devil's food, but also had a caramel filling. IT was first covered in chocolate fudge icing, then covered in fondant. The flowers are royal icing. It was pretty yummy, and quite a number of employees at the mall got a taste of it.

Next up! Erica's birthday cake! Her request was simple enough, "penguins with an igloo". Alrighty then! Then entire thing was sinple enough to make. I totally didn't go with royal icing penguins (we've proved that kills my mixer and they look slightly ridiculous in the end!) so the penguins were made of fondant. The igloo was a large cupcake, and marshmallows covered in fondant. The cake itself was chocolate fudge on the bottom with chocolate fudge filling, the top was vanilla with vanilla filling. She loved it!

The last cake I have to update on was made for a friend's daughter's first birthday. Not having really done any kind of character cake in awhile (or really for that matter) I was stumped at first. But my friend wanted it simple and girly so this is what I came up with. The bottom tier was chocolate fudge with chocolate fudge pudding filling. The top tier was vanilla cake with vanilla pudding filling. The entire cake was covered in fondant, with fondant accents, and royal icing flowers.

That's it for now! might have a couple more coming up! You never know!

Marc's birthday
My brother's bday was on January 19th, and we had a family dinner tonight. He decided he wanted red vevet with cream cheese icing, so I obliged, but I had to also make a cake for those that did not eat red velvet. So i made them bot different. The red velvet is the blue icing, and the vanilla is the yellow icing.

MMMmmm cupcakes
Today I got an awesome (or so I thought) recipe. Well part of it turned out. The original recipe was Dark chocoalte cupcakes with peppermint Marshmallow cream filling and Swiss meringue buttercream on top. The cupcake part turned out very well (they are soooo yummy) but the peppermint thing? Not so much. It was awful! Tasted like pure butter. Ewww. Soooo I went online to search for something else, and found this other marshmallow cream filling, and this one is great. Tastes like the Little Debbie cupcakes snack filling. It's really, really good. After changing the filling, I changed the topping to my good ol' standby of chocolate buttercream icing. I added some silver dragees and voila. Yummyness.

First Birthday cakes
I was asked a couple weeks ago to bake for a little boy's first birthday. There were a couple of parties that needed baking for. The first, a smash cake and 24 cupcakes were needed.

The smash cake is chocolate fudge cake, with chocoalte fudge filling, and covered in white buttercream with fondant accents. The cupcakes are chocolate, with chocolate fudge icing with various accents.
Today, a larger cake was needed along with another smash cake.

The large cake is marble, with chocolate fudge filling, covered in fondant with buttercream accents and "monkeys" (I did attempt to make these, however, my patience did not last too long, and they ended up looking like alien mutant monkeys, hence, the non-edible ones....). The smash cake is vanilla, with vanilla buttercream filling, covered in vanilla butterceam.
Happy birthday Dalton!
